Ethanol & sugarmarket
The International Sugar Organisation (ISO) has estimated a world sugar surplus of 3.9 million tonnes for 2008/09 compared to a surplus of 7.25 million tonnes in 2007/08. The deficit follows two consecutive years of large surpluses and the ISO said most of the production shortfalls in exporting countries are expected to be covered from stocks accumulated during the previous two seasons. Global consumption is again expected to rise.
